The World Wide Web is the fastest growing part of the Internet.

It uses hypertext to provide access to a wide variety of multimedia resources, including text, sound and graphical images.

Hypertext links or hyperlinks (often underlined blue text) allow you to move easily from one part of a web site to another or to a different site altogether, just by clicking on a highlighted word or image.

Click on one of the hyperlinks on this screen. You can see how easy it is to move about within a single web site. In this case you are taken to the glossary for a definition of the term you clicked on.
